Creative Writing

Today we were given this story starter for writing....

She had been chasing it all day. Now, the crow had it.

Time was ticking. Time was running out. She tiptoed towards the creature, seeing the precious key it held precariously in its sharp, cruel beak. It let out an irritating, throaty cackle, its soot-black wings ruffling gently as it manoeuvred itself on top of the clock; it was ready to take flight.

Knowing she might only have a few seconds before her opportunity disappeared, she took another cautious step forward. Time seemed to slow, her body tingled in excitement and her heart thudded in her chest. It was now or never…

Our challenge was to continue the story (using either he/she).

Our goal was to be creative and enjoy our writing.
We were also focusing on being able to organise our ideas into paragraphs with like ideas.

Here are a few of our ideas....

The Chance for the Golden Key

When the crow was on the old rusty clock the boy took one cautious step toward the crow. His heart was pumping quick and he was sweating.

He doesn’t know if he will get a chance to grab the golden key. Then the crow flapped it’s wings and was ready for take off.

The boy saw a rock by the table. He sprinted to the table and got the rock and he was ready to throw it at the crow. This rock was his only hope for the golden key that he needed!

The crow flew up to the roof and the boy aimed. He threw the rock at the crows feathers and the crow squawked. His beck opened up and the key dropped and the crow hit the window and died.

She knew in a minute or two the crow would swallow the key to her new 3 story house, but she didn't give up that easy. Instead she made a trap to stop it from hiding it in the bell. So she dashed to the shops to get some rope and boots to climb the clock.

She knew she had to bring something gold to swap with her new key. When she got up to the top she saw the crow building a nest under the bell, suddenly she had an idea. If she threw the key to the crow she could ring the bell with her rope to hit the crows head.

The crow saw the key that she brought him and swapped, so she climbed back down and the town gave her a ginormous trophy to put in her giant 3 story house.

The next day she had a wide smile because she was going to climb up the tower at the bell and leave a present for the crow.

The Last Chance

The crow had got it she had no chance of saving it now.  She started to cry, her mother's antique key was gone, gone for good.  Suddenly, the fluttering of the crows wings stopped ... she looked up.  The crow had transformed into a wizard.  She was astounded to see a wizard.  “Here is your key” he said. “Thank you very much sir” she said back.  “Can I show you something?” replied the wizard. “Sure” she said back.  “Before we go what is your name?” the wizard asked  “ Kailey” she replied

“Let's go Kailey” he said.  They walked down the hallway until they stopped at a door that Kailey had never seen before.  “Where are we?” Kailey asked.*  “Well you see, whenever the holder of the key walks down this exact hallway the secret door will appear, only that key can open the door.  If another key is put into the keyhole the holder of that key will disappear…. forever” said the wizard.  “That’s intense”

The Flying Horse
She runs .... the crow went flying out the door it was flying higher and higher up. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes as tight as she could. Then jumped as high as she could. She put all her body strength into to this one important jump. When she felt the black feathers in her hand she grabbed hold.

As the girl opened her eyes she was gliding through the sky she looked up to see if the bird was still there but somehow the bird turned into a flying horse. As soon as she saw the horse she screamed. The horse kept on flying then it flew into the woods a lot of branches hit her she even bumped into a bird's nest.

Key
She jumped up to get the key and when she touched it the crow disappeared.
A secret door opened. She went in. The minute she steps forward she thought she was in a fog. It was freezing cold. She said “There is food everywhere.”

Hello!!! she said. 5 dogs came running over. “AHHHHHHHHHH” she said . They started to lick her. All of a sudden the food was all gone.

She was in bed back at home. Her mum was in her room saying that it was time to go school. So she got dressed for school.

The Key
She jumped at the clock, but all it did was give her some bruises. She tried again, luckily this time it scared the crow off the clock and it dropped the key. The crow spun around and started to swoop down to catch it, but she jumped and swiped it from him.

“I'm so glad I’m on the school basketball team,” she thought. “Now to get rid of this crow.” She grabbed a broom and yelled “MUUUM!” Her mum came into the room and sighed...

Breaking Dawn
She climbed the old stone holder of the town's clock. She sees the crow. The crow was just about to leave then she took a leap of faith and the crow pounced off the clock and she caught the crows silky tail feathers.

The girl fell down on the soft grass. She still had the crow's tail feathers in her hand. The crow fluttered and screeched it still had the key in its black beak. The girl looked at the key and smiled. She said ‘Oh crow my dear old friend what were you doing with my key” . The bird flew away and the girl followed him. The crow went over mountains and rivers.

The girl started to get sleepy. She said to the crow ‘ Can't we rest my dear old friend “ she begs. The crow settles down on a old tree and sleeps. The girl found a nice patch of grass to sleep on. In the morning the crow stood on the sleeping girl. She yawned and she asked ‘ Time to go already crow?’ The crow answered with a squawk and then flew to a nearby bush.

Then when she got closer she saw that the bush had berries on it. Now she had a big smile on her face and said ‘ OH you really are a wonderful crow” . The crow was glad to help.
