Social Skills...  Hauora Well Being

Problem Solving with Amanda.

Today we worked on some of our Well Being tasks with Amanda.  In small groups we role played by setting a problem and then discussing using strategies we have discussed in class how we could solve these problems...

Stealing someones money...

Running away from friends...

Calling someone names...

Stealing someones Pokomon Cards...

Calling someone a names and not wanting to listen...

Hitting someone then hitting back...

Stole someones car...

Solutions:
Tell them it is not nice to steal.
If you saw it happen, ask them to return.
Ask a friend for help.
Tell your friends how it hurt you.
Ask someone else for help.
Tell your friend name calling is not nice.
Realise stealing is not a good thing to do, returned them.
Ask for them back if you know who took them.
Tell an adult.
Tell a teacher about the problem.
Use calm down strategies.
Apologise to each other.
Stealing large property items are tricky to deal with, best to phone police.

Classroom Resources:
In class the students have set up a book of 'problems' and solutions they can use to help solve them, taking ownership for their problem.  We have a list of strategies that we have all come up with to use and to help us work on a solution to our problem.   Three steps to solving our problems.  There is also an emotional thermometer that we can resort to in order to help us realise where we are with our emotions.
